Internet
Scams;
There are many scams circulating on the Internet at this moment. The most common
scams include; letters advising you are a prize-winner; advising there is something wrong with your computer and
some types of emails from unknown senders.
Scams
are run by people wanting to steal money or information from you.
Agencies like banks or Inland Revenue will never ask you for
information like a password, credit card data or account details.
Ways to
Protect Yourself Online;
Don’t be generous in giving your email address to
everyone or anyone not known as reliable. Use ‘closed’ addresses when sending multiple emails. (See the Email
Course for How To.?)
If in doubt about the sender- delete the email
without opening it.
Remember, emails have been known to go astray or be
‘hacked’. Be careful about any personal information you write into emails. Attachments are more liable to carry
viruses or malware.
